Test prisoners pregnancy at risk – Vasterbotten Courier

A blood test can reveal if a woman at risk for preeclampsia, a new study shows according Upsala Nya Tidning.

Over 1000 women in 14 countries at 30 hospitals, including University Hospital and Karolinska, has been included in the study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

– Our results suggest that the blood sample can be an important tool when to determine whether a pregnant woman should be admitted to hospital for observation or she can be sent home and continue to be controlled in an outpatient instead, says Professor Matt Olovsson at the University Hospital gynecological clinic, the UNT.

Before the sample can become routine in healthcare, however, further studies are done, according Olovsson.
