commemoration of the memory of the six million Jews who were murdered by Adolf Hitler’s Nazis began with six aged survivor of the death camps of Auschwitz, Dachau and Ravensbrück came and lit was its light.

Finally came a representative of the Roma population; even hundreds of thousands of Roma were murdered after the Nazis.

Among the listeners from the Jewish community even sat Imam Salahuddin Barakat and two of Malmö’s Social Democratic mayor: Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh and Andreas Schönström.

For a long time the relations strained between the Jewish community in Malmö and the ruling Social Democrats.

On two occasions the US government sent special envoys because of the city’s Jews testified about growing anti-Semitism – not least from people with Muslim roots.

In April 2012, accused Hannah Rosenthal, former councilor Ilmar Reepalu to refuse to issue seriously.

In March 2015 considered himself the emissary Ira Forman face a far more understanding attitude from Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh.

Now Stefan Löfven invited to speak at the synagogue in a situation where Sweden’s relations with Israel is the ground frozen.

The chill from Jerusalem spread already when the government a year ago admitted Palestine. As Foreign Minister, Margot Wallström recently called for an investigation into allegations that Israeli soldiers guilty of “extrajudicial executions” in connection with the Palestinian knife attacks in the West Bank crawled temperature below zero.

The Israeli government responded to Wallström’s claim that the port ban her from Israel; at least one minister has called her “anti-Semite”.

The synagogue in Malmo denied Stefan Löfven that his visit was a way to try to appease the Israeli government .

– No, that’s not why.

What do you say that Israel has port forbidden Margot Wallström and that a representative of the government called her “anti-Semitic”?

– First, anti-Semitism is of course totally wrong. Our government wants good relations with both Israel and Palestine. We’re working on it all the time

– We believe in a two-state solution. We have two parties that have the same right to security. It is important to establish. I have taken note of the knife murder of the Israeli woman recently. It is just as sickening as any other force. Abominable!

– We will always stand up for both Israel and Palestine’s right.

Is your visit to Malmö specially marked because of anti-Semitism in Malmo?

– For me it is important to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust, to keep the memory alive.

Do you believe that there is a particular hotbed of anti-Semitism in Malmö compared for example Stockholm and Gothenburg?

– It is difficult to compare cities. Either way it is a problem. We have Semitism here in Malmö. It is located in Sweden and it is in Malmö. It is a disgrace to our society!

What will the government do about hate crime increases?

– We will never tolerate hate, intolerance and anti-Semitism in our country. You should be able to be sure, no matter what you believe or do not believe in anything at all.

– We have to work systematically to increase safety. But most importantly values. We need to discuss much more in Sweden which society we should have.

In a special meeting with the Assembly leadership had Löfven hear testimony about the daily life of Jews of Malmö .

– We are not safe. We live in a veiled threat, said the vice chairman Freddy Gellberg.
