School threats have not increased – Aftonbladet

Crime. Although the media almost weekly reports of threats against schools, they have not increased overall. The threat comes in waves, and are difficult to trace to the police.

– We at the Agency can not generally say that threats have increased. We have no statistics, but we have not seen any increase based on the calls we get, says Hugo Wester, director of education at the Agency.

Anders Ahlqvist, operations specialist in national cybercrime center at the police, are on the same line .

– Skolhot goes in waves. After an event like that in Trollhättan, or a school shooting in the United States or Finland, we see that it may resonate here as a rebound, but it goes down again until a new event occurs, says Anders Ahlqvist.

Is not track app

Often the threat to schools via social media. It often makes it difficult for the police, he says. A relatively new app, Jodel, it is impossible for the police to trace.

– Jodel based on those found in the immediate area can see what is written, but it is possible to manipulate the site. There is no one to turn to for tracking data, there is no server involved, he said.

There are other similar apps and services that do not go to the track, he says. Though the police do not want people to know about the difficulties. But to go so far as to call for the prohibition of those he does not want.

– No, it is not the duty of the police to say that it should be banned. There is a balance, Imposing blocks and functions are also major drawbacks. Who should for instance specify what should be banned, he said.

The police may determine

The threats are for the most seriously.

– Our message is to leave to the police to assess the seriousness, says Hugo Wester.

Though it is difficult for the police when it only involves a few lines of text without context.

– Often we must run these balls. I would like to see the decision makers who did not, says Anders Ahlqvist.
