Several people have been killed and a little girl were seriously injured after what appears to have been an explosion in a car not far from the fire station in Torslanda, Gothenburg.

It was just after the bell 17 as three, four people at once sounded the alarm to the emergency service after they witnessed something that at first seemed to be a serious traffic accident in the entrance to a roundabout on the Torslandavägen outside Gothenburg. The clock 17:18 sent the SOS Alarm out a large rescue team to the site.

– When our rescue personnel arrived was a difficult demolished car on the spot and several people in the car were killed and seriously injured, says Anna Dyne, Communications at emergency services in Greater Gothenburg.

 
        
             
     
     
 

According to the police, these are about four to five people. All but one feared dead.

The police have cordoned of the area, and there are major traffic disruptions on the site. Rescue Service describes the car as very seriously injured.

– The evidence suggests that the explosion must have caused the damage. We extended the closures to be able to work and find out what has happened, says Ulla Brehm, spokesperson for the police in Västra Götaland.

Security Service is informed but the investigation was shot by police in Gothenburg.

– We have not really clear to us what occurred. We have some witness statements, but several of these are quite scared and shocked, says Ulla Brehm.

According to Eastern Hospital is a child of preschool age brought in with severe injuries.

– A girl has been here and she life-threatening injuries, said Robert Sjölund on the hospital’s press office.

A preliminary investigation has been initiated regarding the violations of the Act on flammable and explosive goods.
