MP-line defenders of Waterfall – Aftonbladet

The Green Party contentious issue of brown coal in Germany is basically settled.

The party leadership has weight, and agreed to maintain operations and phase it out.

– I’m glad we could come to a reconciliation, says Linus Pettersson, who pushed the issue.

Vattenfall’s coal mines in Germany have been infected issue within the Green Party. Before Congress, several agents written motions requiring that Vattenfall will continue to own the coal mines, and then dismantle them. The sale would mean continued environmental degradation.

The party claims, in contrast rejection of the motion and would instead Vattenfall to sell parts of lignite operations.

“Opens for a change in position”

The decision in question should be tomorrow. But already on Friday got the party fold. When the question was treated in a preparatory committee won the line to keep the brown coals and later dismantle the large, by a vote of 45-0.

– We who advocated the original motion and the party came to a reconciliation that we both became very pleased with, says Linus Pettersson (MP), one of the authors of the motion, and candidates for the party.

– It opens up a changed position. We who put the motion hope that other parties will change their mind. Now is still the default setting from the Green Party in place.

The decision will be formally taken in the morning.

– The probability is high that it will go through because both we who wrote the motion and the party behind reconciliation, says he said.
