More than half of all applicants for compensation have been rejected as not subject to appeal.

– When you went into the hall where three people sat and stared at as it was very chilly. And I knew enough that this was already clear when I came in, what would happen and how it would be. And it was enough that I was thinking, says Björn Öhman, one of those rejected.

Bear Öhman who is 64 years today very difficult to talk about what happened him as a child in several foster homes – because he hesitated to apply for the compensation of SEK 250 000 the government to the victims of abuse and neglect in connection with social care.

From 2013 and until year-end it is possible to apply – now have compensation committee made the 4000 decision and the judgment is 52 percent rejected.

According to Björn Öhman found the Board including no evidence that he lived in one of they foster care, he stated – because he had no money.

– I was simply rejected, and it feels like I’m offended again in this way.

He feels the whole process right unsure:

– You’re supposed to sit there and sell you like to sell a car. So should you sell your life for the faith to be able to get some money and I think this is crazy.

Bear Ohman is one of five people that is now submitting a class action to the European Court. The group believes that the remuneration committee has taken arbitrary decisions – and are critical of the decisions can not be appealed.

Goran Ewerlöf who is chairman of the remuneration committee said that the committee tries to treat everyone equal admits that it may be easier for some

However, it is very difficult to get the European Court To really hear the case – only one percent of all cases get through – But this is the group’s only chance to get the government to look again the issue of compensation to the dilapidated says Björn Öhman:

– I think many people have been treated unfairly, there are many more than I have not received any compensation, so I certainly think you should try to pull this on one way or another again.
