Fire under control – Göteborgs-Posten

It started burning adjacent to an apartment block on Skanstorget during Saturday morning. At 10:45 the fire was under control.

But living on Skolgatan have to wait to get home again.

Accommodation in Upper Husargatan received re-admission to their apartments at 12:30 o’clock. But those who live in Skolgatan 32, 36 and 43 will have to wait. The clock 15 keeps Rescue Service meeting for the residents of these addresses how and when they come back home.

The GP’s Viktor Lenken in place are in place in Haga, where 30-40 of the residents gathered on a lawn Skanstorget.

The alarm of fire in Haga arrived just before 8:50 on Saturday morning. According to the initial information, it would move on fire in an attic of an apartment block, but it was pretty soon clear that the fire started in a storage building in the courtyard at Skolgatan 36th

About 50 firefighters from six different stations worked fire fighting and as late as the 10-time chief of staff could not rule out that the fire would spread to surrounding properties.

– I just got a report. It looks a little better, but it is not under control, said Hans Carlsson, at 10 o’clock.

At 10 o’clock they had residents evacuated from their houses and gathered on Skanstorget. One of the evacuees are Hans-Åke Hansson. He says he woke up and felt the smell of smoke, but went to bed again.

– I was a little dazed, so I thought it was somebody who grilled.
But shortly thereafter, he went up and looked out the window and saw the fire.

– It struck up great flames. It was like a bonfire.
Quickly, he and his wife with their cell phones and money and ran out into the street.

Alexandra Carlsson live inside the courtyard at the site of the fire.

– My first reaction was: oh what a thrill. Then it went fast. It is small as hell, maybe it was the roof that collapsed? In one minute it was smoke everywhere – it got blacker and blacker. I saw nothing. I ran up to my neighbor, an older man and said that he must go out to the fire. But he said only: “I’ll wait until it subsided.”

Alexandra could not do anything but to wait. From Skanstorget she looks into the courtyard. But the only thing she sees is smoke, and she is thinking aloud:

– We’ll see when I can move back in.

Earlier in the morning talking GP’s Gabriel Holmqvist with another of residents: Adam Holter who together with his partner expecting a child in four weeks.

– We woke by the smoke and knew it was something. Then we saw smoke on the balcony. Do not dream way to wake on when to have children of four weeks, says Adam Holter.

The smoke was heavy and the smell of smoke was heavy in large parts of the inner city.

– The smell of smoke all the way away on the Avenue, said GP’s reporter Gabriel Holmqvist around the clock -09.

Police have launched a preliminary investigation of aggravated arson.
