A plane with two Lithuanians took off from Älvängen north of Gothenburg on Saturday. A few hours later there was a trace disappeared.
The plane, an Antonov An-2, was yesterday afternoon on the way to Klaipeda from Kattleberg outside Älvängen but never arrived. The plane would have landed 17:20 but the Maritime and Aeronautical Rescue Centre was alerted by relatives who were once missing.
– It is a single-engine older Russian aircraft that are quite large, with two Lithuanian nationals on board, says Christer Ekeroth on Maritime and Aeronautical Rescue Centre (JRCC) said.
Kjell Brattfors, which owns the airfield north of Älvängen, feel the two Lithuanians well.
– It is extremely experienced pilots, both two, it What happened is a tragedy, he says.
Sweden lined up with airplanes and helicopters in a rescue.
– In writing, we have no units there. The MRCC Klaipeda has taken over, says Christer Ekeroth on air and sea rescue center to SVT.
The last known position is just over sjutton mil from Oland, about twelve mil from the Lithuanian coast.
