People who are involved in gang crime in Gothenburg has early been identified by the authorities.
Echoes The survey shows that the majority of the alleged continued committing crimes, despite society’s efforts.
Background: So echo examined Gothenburg criminal gangs
The echo has examined how the gone for a group of people who already 2007 by the police and social services were identified as being at risk. They were then in their teens, and many of them already convicted of crimes.
Liban Mahamed is one of several security hosts who are employed at schools in Gothenburg to halt recruitment into gangs. He recognizes the image that many go into crime early.
– They believe that they must love out on the street. For you say to a 15-year-old, a 16 year old to come, I am your brother, you’ll get 1000, 2000, they will be attracted. And that is what we must counter, said Liban Mahamed.
in 2007 had something happened in the district of Backa in Gothenburg. A new type of gang had started to emerge, neighborhood gangs that differed from the previous, more structured gangs, such as biker gangs.
The so-called Backa gang had looser structures, there were groups of friends who began to engage crime, and they drew the younger.
in Backa was uneasily that year, fires, malicious damage and even serious crimes as robbery and assault.
Bengt-Olof Berggren manage Knowledge Centre against organized crime in Gothenburg and has worked as a juvenile prosecutor. He remembers what happened in Backa.
– None of us who were then active could have imagined that they would become as serious criminals as when we saw them arrive as struliga teenagers, he said.
The echo looked almost 36 people, who according to police in 2007 were in or around the gangs that emerged in Backa.
The group includes eleven people who already the police and social services in particular were identified as being at risk of getting into serious crime. The eleven were then between 15 and 18 years, and several of them were already convicted or sentenced for offenses that year, such as assault, unlawful threat and receiving.
echo examination shows of the eleven, there are five who continued to commit repeat offenses, despite the fact that judgments and personal investigations show that they have been the subject of several social measures.
– We’ve thought very many what it was that went wrong . But at the same time, there are individuals, it is always difficult to generalize what steps were taken and what measures were not taken and what went wrong, it differs from individual to individual. Had they managed to get the tone that lay off, so maybe everyone had retired. Always easy to be wise after the event, says Bengt-Olof Berggren.
pattern to persons that are in gangs from entering the crime early is also noticeable among the rest of the echo examination. In the entire group of 36 people is at least 16 who have been sentenced already when they were in their teens, and most of them have continued to commit crimes.
The majority of the group, 20 of them, is also doomed for crimes in recent years, from 2012 onwards. A few more currently being investigated by the police for suspected crimes.
Three of persons included in our review no longer live. They have been killed in the shootings that have been in Gothenburg.
Security Values Liban Mahamed pointing to the concern these people’s families suffer.
– We need to explain to these young people also, that in the long run, it will end badly for them and their families, for they do not hurt themselves only, they hurt their parents and their relatives, said Liban Mahamed.
