NYKÖPING / STOCKHOLM. Two people are dead after a powerful explosion in an apartment in Nyköping.
A large area is cordoned off and police bomb group looking for explosives.

A loud bang was heard in the residential Brandkärr in Nyköping just before four o’clock on Monday afternoon. The alarm was received 15:45 and police, rescue and ambulance were sent to an address in the area.
At first inspection inside the apartment found one person dead. A severely injured man was found adjacent to the exploded apartment. He was taken to Nyköping hospital by ambulance, where he later died.
– A man was taken to hospital where he, too, has died. They are still unidentified and when they may be, I have no information about, say police spokesman Fredrik Wallen.
The reason unknown
Police suspect crime. A preliminary investigation has begun into gross violation of devastation endangering the public, but according to Fredrik Wallen may change during the preliminary investigation once.
– What exploded or why the explosion triggered we do not know at present. But we expect that it clears within 24 hours. Investigation Technically rolls everything running so why it exploded, we do not have reliable conclusions, says Fredrik Wallen.
Bomb Group was summoned
A 150 meter wide area on both sides of the house was cordoned off. Police bomb group was sent from Stockholm to Nyköping, but there is no new information on the case of a bomb or an accident.

He says forensic and bomb technicians will secure evidence and to remove any explosives at the site.

A neighbor states for Aftonbladet that the blast felt over the house.
– It was a hell of a bang and I both felt and heard the blast. The blast felt over the legs, says the neighbor told Aftonbladet.
Apartment door should almost have been blown by the explosion.
– Apartment door hung sideways after the blast. I saw a man who came out and shouted “ouch ouch ouch!” And threw himself into the stairwell.
“No natural explanation”
The residents of the 18 apartments in the stairwell has vacated the property, says Christer Gustavsson, CEO of housing company Nyköpingshem.
– There has been a massive explosion and the entire property is vacated. Police bomb group is about to make further inquiries.
What is it that exploded?
– We do not know yet.
Is there gas in the property ?
– No. There is not. I can not think of any natural explanation for this.
The residents can not return home. Nyköpingshem and Crisis Group in Nyköping Municipality has set up an evacuation center at the retirement home Mariebergsvägen farm.
