The murder took place in an apartment on Åsbogatan in Ängelholm in April 2004 and was discovered on May Day Eve of that year. The neighbors of a man in his 60s had noticed that it started to smell from the apartment and when police arrived at the scene they could see very quickly that the man had fallen victim to a crime and probably been dead for a couple of weeks.

The 32-year-old was convicted in the District Court, against its negative, to ten years in prison for murder. He appealed to the Court of Appeals, but even considering that he was guilty of murder. The Court of Appeal tightened the punishment and changed from ten years in prison for life.
