The government’s decision not to renew a military cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia has triggered a heated debate.
In tonight’s Agenda SVT met Carl Bildt (M) and Mona Sahlin (S ) to discuss what it means for Sweden.

Foreign Wallström was stopped from speaking Arab League, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador has left Sweden and the United Arab Emirates envoys have gone home. Saudi Arabia has also stopped the Swedish business travelers.
The government’s decision not to renew a military cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia have both lauded and attracted strong criticism. Even King Carl XVI Gustaf has settled in the discussion and will on Monday meet Wallstrom to discuss their concerns about the now cool relationship with the Saudis.
Former Foreign Minister Carl Bildt (M) and former S-leader Mona Sahlin debated in tonight’s Agenda SVT Saudi crisis.
– I think it was right to denounce it, says Mona Sahlin in the program.
– I am infinitely proud of clarity by Mrs Wallström. I was proud of Carl Bildt when he was so aggressive against Russia but I am equally proud of Margot Wallström now.
She, however, says she believes that addressing the conclusion that the decision was presented could have been done “in a clearer way. “
Carl Bildt says that Sweden could have avoided Saudi The anger and yet completed the agreement by managing the issue in a different way, for example through closer talks with Saudi Arabia prior to the decision.

He says it should not have been handled in this way and that now says “thousands of jobs and weighs in Sweden”.
– Now we have a situation that has damaged Sweden and Swedish interests, he said.
– Now we need to get us out of this crisis without doing more damage.
He says that it requires diplomacy and “other” in order to succeed.
Mona Sahlin says that it is important that there are countries that dare to stand up for democracy and human rights just because of how the world today looks like.
– Who knows, this might strengthen Sweden in other areas, says Mona Sahlin in the program.
