Shortly after ten o’clock last night, several people shot at a restaurant in Gothenburg. Police suspect that these are gang-related violence and are still searching for the perpetrators.

During this morning’s press conference made clear Gothenburg police that the incident violent crime in the district of Hisingen has led to at least eight injured who was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

– It is tragic with young men who have been killed. It is an irrational violence freed from feelings exercised by at least two people, said police regional director Klas Friberg.

Later that night shall also people with shrapnel wounds have come to the hospital under police may be linked to the incident at the restaurant .

It was just after ten o’clock last night that two masked men equipped with at least one automatic weapon opened fire at a restaurant on Vårväderstorget in Gothenburg. One person was killed inside the restaurant and another was shot to death just outside.

Police have now dedicating significant resources and established contact with the National Police. In addition to the criminal investigation, they work with security policies with deploying police patrols in the area. Right now, the police suspect that it may involve gang-related violence but have no suspects.

– You should keep in mind that we have a serious situation with young people who are prepared to perform this type of violence. They think crime twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. But we can not be everywhere and do not apprehend individuals who think crime. But you need not be worried for their own safety.

Alexander Hermansson, 27, lives on Hisingen about four or five minutes from Vårväderstorget where the shooting incident occurred.

– I think it is horrible for the first one. And then it’s sick that it’s so close to where I live. Police have well speculations that the case of gang but it’s nothing I have previously noticed in the area.

Now we hope Alexander Hermansson that the shooting incident on Vårväderstorget was just a one time event. But he also thinks it has become more common with shootings in Gothenburg.

– It has been great so far where I live so I hope that it will continue to be good for this and that it was just a one time event . But it also feels a little wild west with gunfire all over the place in Gothenburg nowadays, so maybe it does not matter where you live, says Alexander Hermansson.

Police in Västra Götaland has for several years been struggling with serious violent crime, and regional police chief expresses concern by describing the situation as serious.

– It is no secret that we have a number of conflicts between different gangs. But what the subject is, in this case we do not know, says Klas Friberg and continues:

– We can confirm that there were at least two offenders on the spot and that’s what we’re looking for.
