She was sentenced in February to life imprisonment for murder. Her husband, Yara’s uncle, was sentenced to six years in prison for extremely aggravated assault and aggravated manslaughter.
On Midsummer Eve last year girl died after being severely beaten, including a rolling pin. According to the district court’s judgment is the woman who stood for lethal violence, while Yara’s uncle was sentenced to not have actively intervened in the girl’s defense.
Both the man and the woman claiming to be innocent and appealed separately its judgments . Although the prosecutor has appealed against the man she believes should have been convicted of murder.
The trial is expected to last until 28 April.
