Mine fire is lit – Sydsvenskan

At about 10:40 on Tuesday announced the mining company Boliden that the fire was under control.

Earlier in the day said the incident commander Mats Jansson TT that 55 people were left down in the mine , located at 826 meters depth.

– There were about 160 people on the ground in the mine when the fire started in the morning. They went to rescue chamber located around the mine. Then began the evacuation, he said then.

The rescue chambers are safe spaces with fresh air, where staff can stay on mine gets filled with smoke.

The fire has been localized with an infrared camera.

– It is a container of plastic that burns and there is smoke in the mine, but it’s hard to say how much, he said.

From the Boliden, who runs the Garpenberg mine, said the press officers Marcela Sylvander:
– The task I have received was to first focus on evacuation and secondarily on fighting, says Marcela Sylvander.

Neither Boliden, emergency services, SOS Alarm or police have received any information on injuries .

One person on the site that TT talked with sat and had coffee when the fire broke out.

– You do not see as much above ground, you only see fire trucks and police and ambulances.
He does not believe that people are afraid.

– I think not. It’s so good routines at this.

The alarm came in at nine o’clock.
