The national terrorhotnivån reduced from four to three on the five-point scale.
It informs the Security Service on Wednesday.
– I have confidence in the Security Services assessment, says Interior Minister Anders Ygeman (S).
Sapo raised last November terrorhotsnivån from three to four on the five-point scale. The background was, among other things, the man who hunted on suspicion of planning a terrorist crime, but also an increased threat after the terrorist attacks in Paris.
On Wednesday decided Sapo manager Anders Thornberg lowering the level again.
– I have made a cumulative assessment, and decided to return to the elevated threat level prevailing in Sweden since autumn 2010. We are thus from a four to a three on the five-point scale, he says in a press release.
State is still serious
the reduction does not mean that the threat to Sweden has disappeared, writes Sapo in the press release. According to the NCT, National Center for terrorhotbedömning, Sweden is still a legitimate target for the so-called violent Islamists.
– It is important to emphasize the seriousness of terrorhotnivån even after this reduction are at an elevated level. The situation has been serious since 2010 – and it still is, says Anders Thornberg.
Ygeman: The law should be changed
Minister Anders Ygeman comments SAPO’s decision in a written comment:
– I have great confidence in the security Police’s assessment and their work for security and safety. The change in the threat level means that we still have an elevated threat level, we must take very seriously. Police and security forces have in doing a high load. Sweden’s new strategy against terrorism is now becoming a reality in all relevant sectors of society, with broad support in Parliament also carried out a series of legislative changes to meet the challenges.
