The government’s proposals for a strengthened refugee policy has broad support in the country. According to a survey by polling institute Novus commissioned by Swedish Television News that feels almost 70 percent of respondents said that the government’s proposals for tougher rules is good, reports Swedish Television News.
The proposed tightening rules is to allow temporary residence rule applied in 1-3 years, in place of permanent residence. Family reunification is limited and supply requirements are tightened as well.
The partisan agreement surrounded by strong criticism mainly come from the Left Party, the Centre Party and the Green Party.
But according Novus measurement is a majority of the more than a thousand people surveyed – 69 per cent – positive. Only 22 percent say it is somewhat or very bad. Men are more positive than women, and older people are more positive than younger. Among the voters are the ones who vote for the Sweden Democrats most positive.
The question of the tightening asylum rules should be dealt with in Parliament in the spring.
