112 people were murdered last year – Aftonbladet

112 people.

So many fell victim to deadly violence last year in Sweden.

Above all seen a great increase in murders in western Sweden .

the day came for Crime Prevention Council report confirmed cases of deadly force.

it shows that in 2015 killed 112 people in Sweden.

There is increase of 25 cases compared to 2014.

– You should not draw large conclusions on variations from one year to another in this kind anyway small category of crime. You have seen such large variations even earlier. It can be a mixture of pure coincidences with the unusual number of double and triple murders last year and a continuation of an increase in violence in the criminal constellations in the big cities, says Sven Granath, criminologists and investigators at the National Council, National Crime Prevention Council.

Went to attack at Ikea

the high figure is partly due to that during 2015 occurred more double and triple murder. The number of victims in cases that contained several instances of lethal violence more than doubled during the year, from 10 to 22 victims, compared to the year before.

On 22 October the Anton Lundin Pettersson, 21, entered the krona school in Trollhattan. He cut down four people. Three of them died of their injuries.

On August 10 killed 55-year-old woman and her 28-year-old son when Abraham Ukbagabir attacked with a knife from Ikea porcelain department at Erik Lund shopping center in Västerås.

on March 7, three people were found shot to death in Uddevalla. Two brothers, Martin and Mark Saliba, was recently sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.

Increase in the West

Something report shows is that last year was mostly men who were victims of deadly force and that it was among men that the greatest increase in victims seen.

in 2015, the victim in 26 percent of cases, a woman, and in 74 percent of cases a man .

In nearly a third (29%) of the confirmed cases of deadly violence in 2015 was used firearms, which is a slightly lower percentage than in 2014 (32%).

The use of firearms in cases of lethal force was until the mid-2000s to about 20 percent. The past five years, the share has averaged 28 percent.

The report also shows that 71 percent of the murders in 2015 were reported in any of the metropolitan areas of Stockholm, West and South.

The largest increase was seen in the West region, where the number of cases more than doubled, from 14 cases (2014) to 34 cases (2015).

Violence Spiral

Robert Karlsson, head of the investigation unit of the Western region, has previously said that the region suffered several gang wars fatal.

– We see a spiral of violence with more motivated offenders who are prepared to use these powerful weapons. Many of them are previously convicted of serious crimes.

In the last ten years the number of cases of lethal violence varied between 68 and 112 cases per year.

But then the National Council began its measurements 1990s, the development of deadly violence has shown a downward trend.

The thing that stands out in recent years, according to figures from the National Board, that a higher percentage shot dead. Although the number of gunshot victims has increased.

Assassinated in jogging

Lethal violence where the perpetrator and victim do not know each other is very unusual.

But last year killed three women in what has been described as madness with sexual motives of men they did not know:

• 17-year-old Lisa Holm, who was murdered in Kinnekulle June 7 last year,

• 21-year-old Ida Johansson, who was murdered in a jogging track in Upplands Väsby on 5 August.

• And the murder on October 3 at Dusica Vecanski, 60, in the Rock.

– There is an even smaller category of crime so where do coincidences even more rash. It does not have to indicate any trend at all, says Sven Granath.
