The party’s proposals: Shorten the summer holidays – Expressen

Three semesters and shorter summer holiday.

So if the Conservatives in Stockholm changing school.

– Children have more goodness than the parents on vacation and there making it difficult to get together family puzzle, especially for single parents, says opposition Mayor Anna König Jerlmyr (M) to SvD.

the schoolchildren would be grateful “eventually”, she believes.

the Moderates suggest that Swedish schools to have three terms instead of two, as in the day. It is the party’s Stockholm Group that come with the proposal, and they would also like to Stockholm to become a pilot municipality.

The exact terms should be is not clear, but the opposition Mayor Anna König Jerlmyr (M) thinks that it could look like in the UK with a fall semester from September to mid-December, the spring semester from January to Easter and summer semester from Easter to mid-July.

More classes

the aim of the proposal is to more teaching hours. According to Anna König Jerlmyrs figures SvD will publish a Swedish 15-year-old average of 741 hours of instruction per year, while the OECD average is 942 hours. Three semesters and shorter God could give more matte hours and also provide space for educational programming.

Moreover, it makes the school more just to teach more, she says.

– Children in socioeconomically poor families, such as families with single mothers, disadvantaged by the long summer holidays. Inaction leads to fall behind during the long summer holiday, while children with access to a lot of activities and literature favored a greater degree of long summer vacation, says Anna König Jerlmyr to SvD.

“Many are perhaps not very happy”

A third effect is that it makes it easier for parents to take time off from work and be at home with the kids during the summer holidays.

– children have more goodness than the parents have vacation and it makes it difficult to get together family puzzle, especially for single parents, says Anna König Jerlmyr.

the major challenge of the proposal is to bring together enough teachers, because there is already shortage of teachers.

the students’ reaction to shorter summer holidays is another question mark.

– Many small children might not be very happy. But I think that in the long term, they might be thankful that there were politicians who could see through to secure the education they could get on to higher education or getting a better knowledge results and perform significantly better in the future than it might otherwise have done, says Anna König Jerlmyr in SvD interview.
