The Swedish Environmental Emissions Data (SMED) made the Environmental Protection Agency commissioned sample surveys in seven municipalities in October 2015. Clothing, footwear, bedding, towels and other textiles sorted out a number of loads of waste.
“This study shows that there is potential to reuse significant portions of it that are thrown into the unsorted household waste. There is also a large proportion of the textile made of pure cotton, which could go to recycling instead of going to the combustion, “says Yvonne Augustsson, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, in a statement.
