Frias from grenade at police van in Tumba – Sveriges Radio

The 18-year-old man was charged with attempted murder of the four police officers. But today dismissed Södertörn District Court indictment, and the man is absolved from the charge.

The court does not believe that the prosecutor has refuted that NN’s DNA ended up
hand grenade at a different time than when it was thrown. Also, at a weighted assessment, where the evidence surrounding the circumstances of the case, the prosecutor has presented is weighed in, the district court concluded that there are other possible explanations for the events than it was NN who, alone or together, and in concert with another threw hand grenade. He is therefore acquitted , “writes the District court in the judgment.

– His (18 year old’s) explanation is not so unreasonable that it can be left entirely without regard, the presiding judge Karin Jonsson.

The prosecutor Stefan Creutz think that the court makes a miscalculation in and with that reasoning.

– I have argued that one should ignore the man’s explanation, because it is so weak, says Stefan Creutz.

the attack took place in August last year in Tumba – in southern Stockholm. Grenade tossed against a police bus, which sat a patrol called to the scene to calm the situation.

Richard Lidstrom was one of the policemen.

– I just see a very strong arc and then a huge bang. I suffered, inter alia, reduction of hearing. There is nothing I suffer, but I have been a reduction in both ears. But two of the guys have got permanent hearing damage.

The 18-year-old was charged with attempted murder of the four police officers. But he freed therefore from that crime today by the District Court.

His lawyer Clea Sang Born is satisfied.

– And I just talked to my client and also he is very satisfied and happy with the verdict, she says to echo.

he will therefore not pay the damages of SEK 135 000 per person, which the four policemen demanded.

18-year-old is convicted, however, to three years and two months in prison for aggravated robbery and aggravated larceny. The sentence should be imprisonment of three years and two months.

Hand grenades are classified today as explosives, not weapons. Thus it is not a smuggling offense that put them in Sweden. Something which, among other things, the Customs Administration criticized. Right now an investigation to be over this situation, and also proposing stricter penalties for the possession of hand grenades.
