Grenade found along the beach in Malmo – Aftonbladet

Police Bomb Technicians were alerted about a suspicious object on Ribersborgsområdet in Malmö on Sunday.

A grenade had been discovered on the shore of a 10-year-old boy.

The suspected grenade was found on Sunday afternoon.

– It is a private person who has walked along Ribersborgsstranden and have found an object that looks like some kind of smaller, older, grenade. It is an oblong object of more than a few inches size, says Nils Norling, information officer at Skåne police.

Police bomb group has not yet been sent to the scene, police said shortly before 17 on Sunday. Instead, “consulted” bomb technicians, according to police.

A large area was cordoned off around the suspected grenade was found not far from the football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s house in Malmö. Shortly after 17.30 cordon was lifted after police determined that the object is harmless.



Boy did find

According to Sydsvenskan was the 10-year-old Elliot Gega who found the suspected grenade.

– We were walking along the beach, looking for things, because when it storms it usually come up funny stones and other things. But when I saw what my son had found, I said that it may not come home, said the boy’s mother Magdalena Gega to the newspaper.
