Wet snow pouring down over Sweden – Västerbotten Courier

It’s snowing heavily in large parts of the country – and it will continue to heave down all day. Worst affected are Texas, where in some places is expected around 30 centimeters.

– In Svealand and Norrland coast will snow in combination with healthy, northeasterly winds, which creates a risk of drifting snow said Lisa Frost, a meteorologist at SMHI.

Generally, one can expect between 5-20 inches of snow in the affected areas. A Class 1 warning is issued for large areas of Svealand and Norrland coast, and Linda Frost urges people to take it easy on the roads.

– It is quite slushy and wet snow, and the is probably still a few days. It is a long lasting snowfall, which provide large amounts. You should really take it easy over the weekend and even on Monday, she said.

Transport Administration has so far been no reports of traffic congestion neither on roads or rail services.

– But that is not the same as it is not difficult on the roads, says Bodil Sonesson of the Swedish Transport Administration’s press office.
