Heavy snow pouring down over Sweden – Norra Västerbotten

It’s snowing heavily in large parts of the country, and the snow is expected to continue to fall throughout the weekend. Along Uppland and Norrlandskusten expected over 30 centimeters.

– In Svealand and Norrland coast will snow in combination with healthy, northeasterly winds, which creates a risk of drifting snow, says Lisa Frost, a meteorologist at SMHI.

Class 1 warnings are issued for large areas of Svealand and Norrland coast. These warnings are expected to remain until Sunday evening, and Lisa Frost urges people to take it easy on the roads.

– It is quite slushy and wet snow, and it is probably still a few days. It is a long lasting snowfall, which provide large amounts. You should really take it easy over the weekend and even on Monday, she said.

A number of accidents have also been reported during the day. One person was hospitalized after a crash involving several vehicles between Vetlanda and Korsberga. Two vehicles collided and a third went into the ditch. Overall, four people sometimes spirit in the accident.

On County Road 558 between Springs and Munktorp crashed two cars in slippery road conditions. Four people including two children were taken to hospital, but all survived with minor injuries. Single accidents have also been reported including Timrå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Västerås.
