Called SOS in an hour and a half after mushroom poisoning – could not talk – Aftonbladet

The man had been poisoned by mushrooms and called SOS.

But it took him an hour and a half to get the address.

– He had seizures, so you just heard him breathing, says Magnus Holmstrom, duty officer at the police in Östergötland.

Shortly before 02 night called the man in Linköping SOS emergency number. He told me that he believed that he had eaten a white fly agaric and poisoned. Since he could not talk more.

– He was so poor that they could neither get the name or address of this person, says Magnus Holmstrom, duty officer at the police in Östergötland.

– He had cramps so he could not even talk. You just heard him breathing very worrying badly – uneven and intermittent.

The poisoning from mushrooms may take quite some time, and the man had probably eaten the mushrooms sometime during the day on Saturday.

– Why he has received in them is unclear, but it is probably by mistake, then he was very sick during the night and had to call emergency services, says Magnus Holmström.

The clock 01:57 phoned SOS to the police and asked them to trace the number, but the man’s mobile phone prepaid card was not registered.

The emergency call lasted just over an hour and a half. At 3:30 pm the man was 45-year-old finally convey a return address so that the ambulance could get him. Man cared for now at Linköping University Hospital. At 8:30 pm said the hospital that the man is slightly injured, the condition is stable and he will remain for observation.



Police calls for caution

The police now want to warn of poisonous mushrooms.

– Generally, this is the wrong mushrooms dangerous. You have to be knowledgeable and know what it is for fungi putting itself says Magnus Holmström.

– If you are unsure you will bring with sponge to someone who knows what it is you picked. Caution should prevail.

Magnus Holmstrom also recommend people to register their prepaid mobile phones.

– Otherwise, you can not track people if needed, he said.
