Support for Björklund still strong – Expressen

The Liberal Party in northern nominate not Jan Björklund to the party leader.

Instead, they choose Birgitta Ohlsson.

But support for Björklund is still strong in the country, shows Expressen round neckline to the districts.

– I personally thought that it would be the most idiotic thing to do, to change the party leader now says Börje Helgesson, FP-chairman of Kalmar.

By the Minister for EU Affairs Birgitta Ohlsson challenge the Liberal Party leader Jan Björklund on the record.

After eight years – and the second worst election for the party since 1934 – wants the Liberal Party district in Västerbotten now see a change in the top layer.

– Many want a change in the party leadership, the discussion has been around locally and now came up on the board, says Maria Lundqvist-Brömster, chairman of the party in Västerbotten which thus nominated Birgitta Ohlsson as the new party leader.

According to Expressen’s political columnist KG Bergström, it is remarkable that it has taken so long. But in much of the country’s confidence in Jan Björklund continued strong.

Expressen has been in contact with ten of the 22 other party districts – Vasterbotten not counting – in the country. All say they have confidence in their current party leader, or that they are not made a decision yet.

The deadline for nominations is August 20.

“There is only one candidate”

– We have a proposal that we want, Jan Björklund, who remained party leader, so we hope that it will be. After the election, both Jan Björklund and Maria Arnholm come up with very good suggestions. They have understood the problems of the Liberal Party and trying to solve them. I think it is good leadership, says chairman of the district of Norrbotten, Thomas Olofsson.

He says Birgitta Ohlsson is both talented and charismatic but:

– As I see it there there is only one candidate and that’s Jan Björklund. I have not seen that Birgitta Ohlsson candidate.

In the neighboring district of Jämtland hold it with:

– In Jämtland, we have not taken a position on any other party leader than Mr Björklund. The nomination deadline is now and we will not nominate someone else, says chairman Pär Löfstrand and continue.

– We have not at all put candidates against each other.

Need none other than Björklund

When the decision Birgitta Ohlsson nomination was made in the district of Västerbotten mentioned the Liberal Party renewal as a reason. Several politicians at the local level mean that this will also include the party leader.

of Värmland sees different altogether on the matter.

– Our ethos of the Board has been that it is not party leaders issue that is important but politics. The subject has been raised but we have not concluded that we need someone other than Jan We currently says Lars Gustafsson, a director of the County Association and chairman of the Liberal Party in Arjang.

The investigation has shown rather more of the surveyed districts not even discussed to replace their party leader – and Skaraborg, Gothenburg and Skåne has been since before gone out with that nominated Jan Björklund.

“Will nominate Jan”

– We really have not had any discussions about replacing Jan Björklund as party leader, said Thomas Olson, president of the Northern Älvsborg.

Emma Carlsson Löfdahl, Chairman of Jönköping:

– I think we will nominate Jan to continued confidence.

And Kronoberg county district Gunnar Nordmark:

– We’ve discussed so that you decide what policy they should pursue, once have done so you get to see what people who will lead the party. Currently Jan is our party leader. Right now I do not know about any concerns on any other than January

In a number of districts is now being questioned Västerbotten decision, rather than Jan Björklund position within the party. Kalmar chairman Börje Helgesson says he thinks it is too late to switch away Bjorklund now, almost a year after the election.

Fully another candidate

– We’re in the midst of renewal time. To my knowledge has not Birgitta Ohlsson at all mentioned that she sets up. I had not been asked until the day that it was the meeting I had said no, I think it’s a little strange, he says.

However, there are exceptions in the strong support expressed for Björklund. 2nd Vice President of the district of Halland, Ann Molander, would not comment until a decision has been taken.

– They always discuss everything, renovation does not mean just the party leader. But renewal requires the absolute in any way. But it need not be right there, or it is there, we’ll see, she says.

And in Östergötland has an entirely different candidate mentioned: Former Minister for Integration Erik Ullenhags former Secretary of State Jasenko Selimović.

– We have received nominations from both Jan Björklund and Jasenko. There is a debate about a renewal. Where it was felt the need to turn over every stone, and one of them is of course the party leadership. I understand that many think that Jan does a good job and is a very good leader, but it might not be enough, says Chairman Lars Karlsson.

Expressen has unsuccessfully sought representatives of the districts of Skåne, Blekinge, Southern Älvsborg Gotland, Skaraborg, Södermanland, Örebro, Stockholm city, Västmanland, Uppsala, Gävleborg and Västernorrland.
