Expert: “Caring methodology must change” – Swedish Dagbladet

Martha Wallinius, research coordinator at the forensic psychiatric regional clinic in Växjö, says that health care institutions have to change their working methods in order to really help those who need it most.

– The methodology generally used, which is based on voluntarism and individual responsibility, rarely work with this kind of patients.

She says that it requires active follow-up, and that you have to work harder to motivate patients to give their consent.

Moreover asks Martha Wallinius a so-called “spider in the web” -Person, which ensures that the interaction works between the various authorities.

– Often caregivers in an institution unaware of the other carers’ assessments.
