Large amounts of dead or dying herrings have been discovered in the port of Henan in northern Orust, reports Bohusläningen. One of the theories is that the herrings are dying from lack of oxygen.
– The herrings that are dying to get up to the surface, gasping for air and then falls slowly to the bottom and yet we do not know what causes mass death, says Linda Börjesson, researcher in environmental Orust municipality.
– An entrepreneur has independently put hoses and press the air on one side of the harbor . On the side it looks better, she says.
The municipality has now taken water and additionally sent herrings for analysis to the National Veterinary Institute.
