Danish Foreign Minister dissar Sweden – Aftonbladet

“Is once again glad I do not live in Sweden …” wrote the Foreign Minister of Denmark on Facebook and linked to an article about the issue patch.

Now like political science professor Drude Dahlerup to apologize to the Swedish people is in its place.

It all started with a feature of the P3 News and discussion in P1 Morgon. Paula Dahlberg, who runs the blog vardagsrasismen.nu, called patches in more colors than just beige. To call some bruised flesh colored and offer only a shade is a sign of “whiteness norm,” reasoned Dahlberg.

Pharmacy took the problem to him and will now try to find a patch that fits more skin colors.

The debate took off – but rather in Denmark than in Sweden. Danish media reported yet about an allegedly flared up debate in Sweden where “patch accused of being racist.”

“Unworthy”

Quite newly appointed Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen of Denmark, from the bourgeois Liberal Party, also went into the debate, and hit the keys. He linked to a Danish article about “patch debate” in the neighboring country, and wrote that he was glad not to live in Sweden.

– It is disgraceful that a Foreign pronounce it like this on a neighboring country. He should come with an apology to the Swedish people, says statsvetarprofessor Drude Dahlerup of Stockholm University.

She herself comes from Denmark and believes that Danish politicians are increasingly trying to make domestic political points by painting a caricature of Sweden.

– There is a tendency in Danish politics, she says.

“tongue in cheek”

But the commentary is written with tongue in cheek, explains Kristian Jensen Danish TV2

– I am happy to live in a country where we debate more important things than the colors of the patch.

Dahlerup claims to still be shocked by the statement.

– He may not have understood his new role. He spits on the Swedish people when he pronounces it like this. This is contrary to diplomatic etiquette between countries and utrikeministrar.

Foreign Margot Wallström (S) press secretary knows the Danish Foreign Minister’s statement.

– I have noticed this, but do not read it. It does not cause any comment from our side, says Pezhman Fivrin said.
