Third elopement in a short time from rättspsyk – Swedish Radio

The routines of forensic psychiatry in Sundsvall will not be changed after the last elopement. It says the acting head of rättspsyk Bengt Eriksson.

The man who held the morning is mentally ill but not criminal. He sprang simply from the staff that would be on a run in the illuminated track which is adjacent to the hospital area.

Just after lunch , at 13 o’clock, the man was found by a police patrol near the hospital. This is the escape in the third year. The two have previously been convicted persons to psychiatric care and has been deemed dangerous.

– We have a mission to rehabilitate people. This man was not sentenced to psychiatric care and were considered yesterday that it was reasonable for him to be out, said Bengt Eriksson, Acting Head of rättspsyk in Sundsvall.

On the way out for a jog fit man to sneak off in the large revolving door at the entrance which is rather slow.

– He took kit and slipped into the last slot, so it was with had to wait until the door had made a half turns. With that advantage so he had time to disappear, says Bengt Eriksson.

You can not foresee everything that might happen.

There was only one person from the staff – how do you like it?

– If it had not been a revolving door so I do not believe this had happened, said Bengt Eriksson.

Do you need to practice more in order to have time to run up with fast-moving people?

– Yes, some of us would probably need it, says Bengt Eriksson.

Are you going to change routines?

– No, not this time. We have done that for the two previous escapes that hit us hard. This time it was more the human factor and some bad luck, says Bengt Eriksson, Acting Head of rättspsyk.
