A major fire broke out in the unique wooden town Eksjö early this morning.
A woman of 25 years old was found in one of the burning houses. She died later in hospital.
After a massive effort got the emergency control of the fire.
– We have managed to halt the spread, said the rescue Mikael Karlsson.
The alarm about the fire came in just after one o’clock 06. It should have started in the attic inside an apartment and then spread to adjoining properties.
Emergency services launched a massive effort to tackle the fire. Some 80 firefighters worked with extinction.
200 homes were evacuated, and large parts of central Eksjö was sealed off.
A woman found inside the burning house and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
At 09 pm police said that the woman died as a result of his injuries.
– She has been found dead, says Lasse Johansson, press officer at the police in Jönköping County.
The woman’s relatives are informed.
“Managed to stop the spread”

Samuel Hansson, 30, lives in the immediate vicinity of the burning houses. Early this morning he was awakened by the smell of smoke.

Samuel and his wife now have to leave their homes.
– We have been evacuated. First we had to go to the city hotel where police took our information, he said.
The same thing did Felizia Pedersen and her family. They live two houses from the house where the fire broke out.
– My husband awoke to a window exploded. When burned it tremendously.
Pretty soon they realized that they had to leave their home with all five children and three pets.
– We understand that a house is completely burned and not be afraid, but we believe and hope that we can return to our house tonight.
“One part of our soul”
The damage that the fire caused the Old Town Unable to repair, says former urban executives in Eksjö said.
