The storm Egon drew not only down trees. On the island toe at Brofjordens inlet, near Lysekil in Bohuslän, was an eight-meter high lighthouse down, local media reported.
For 40 years, the lighthouse helped boats to find the right, but the hurricane winds ripped it loose from its concrete foundation and flew 30 meters.
The lighthouse stands on the island toe between Barley Islands and lighthouses Dyna Crime and Brandskär that acts as approaches beacons to Brofjorden, writes Bohusläningen online.
Since it is still blowing hard can repair work to drag on.
More lighthouses are a victim of the storm Egon’s rampage.
– We have had several cable breaks out at the major lighthouses and right now there is not much that works, says Göran Winge that is workshop foreman at Fiskebäck’s pilot station to the newspaper.
