Jan Ohlsson, aviation expert and editor at Travel Insider, believes that the closure of Gothenburg City Airport does not have any major impact on air traffic to and from the city.
– Traffic can probably be moved to Landvetter. The airport have not been used in competition home more than a single line, it’s Bromma Save it operates, and it’s certainly doomed, he said.
Ohlsson warns against drawing parallels with Bromma Airport in Stockholm.
– Here you can move to Landvetter and you can not just move traffic from Bromma to Arlanda. You can not start flying at midday and one can not say that charter plane to go middle of the day I saw some letters to the editor about. It does not work as they should do two tours a day, otherwise it will be astronomical expensive.
West Swedish Chamber of Commerce regrets that Gothenburg is now losing its second airport.
“Sad news, not least them with business and employment at the airport. In the longer term needs of Gothenburg relations with the outside world is not adversely affected, provided that Landvetter Airport develop as planned, “says CEO Johan Trouvé in a press release.
The Chamber pushes for a full-fledged railway between Gothenburg and Boras Landvetter airport for some time and will now pursue the issue “even more intense,” he continues.
