13: 08SMHI warns of heavy snowfall – UNT

On Saturday, it will fall out with plenty of snow over Uppsala.

– On Saturday there will be between one and two inches of snow in Upland. On the coast it can be even more, says Alexandra Ohlsson, meteorologist at SMHI.

There is a deep low pressure sweeping through north and the whole of Sweden will get rainfall in central and northern part of the country as snow . SMHI has now issued a Class 1 warning for Upland.

– It is mainly the risk of slipping. Periodically, the snowfall being profusely and in combination with strong winds, visibility can be very poor, says Alexandra Ohlsson.

She believes that the snow may remain, at least until the end of next week when it is expected to milder weather.

For cross country skiers precipitation is long overdue. Ulf Angelsiöö who is chairman of Storvreta ski club believes that natural snow is very important.

– Will the 20 centimeters over the next week so we can open our lighted trails that are a total of 7.5 kilometers. And hopefully we will soon be able to open the even longer nature trails in the woods.

He says that they already have a 1100 meter long loop with artificial snow going to go on.

– I have not been out since the day before yesterday, but then the tracks perfectly okay.

There will come to toggle between minus and plus degrees. How does it affect the tracks?

– We usually actually have some degree called in Storvreta than in Uppsala, so we hope for the best.

What happens otherwise on the ski front in Storvreta?

– On January 24, we will arrange UNT Cup where everyone is welcome to come and try out cross-country skiing, says Ulf Angelsiöö.
