SL stops parts of SD’s advertising in the subway – Aftonbladet

After the storm of protest: Now stop SL parts of the Sweden Democrats’ advertising in the Stockholm subway.

The reason is the risk that the demonstrators or travelers damage.

The Sweden Democrats’ campaign against begging, which were set up at Östermalmstorg metro station on Monday, has raised an outcry. Not least in social media, the protests against the message was powerful.

Yesterday gathered thousands of people at the subway station to demonstrate against the campaign. When it stormed the station, and posters that sat in the rafters above the escalator was torn down. It is the event that makes the SL now partially stop the campaign.

“It is not considered likely that the messages above the escalators would be vandalized again if they are set up again. To access tearing down the messages must expose both themselves and other travelers to substantial risks, “writes SL in a press release.

Because of these risks will not continue advertising on rafters be allowed. But the decision does not mean that SD’s campaign stopped altogether.

“Traffic management has from a safety no objection to the continued advertising on other already ordered surfaces,” states the press release.

But, according to Jesper Pettersson are hardly any posters at all left.

– It is regrettable. But we must put safety first.

Directed to tourists

SD’s campaign is in English and is aimed at foreign tourists visiting Stockholm. The advertisement asks the party tourists apologize for the “mess” in Sweden begging allegedly cause.

SD’s press officer Henrik Vinge has indicated to the Aftonbladet that the party has paid for the campaign to sit up in two weeks.

If some new posters will be put up is unclear at present.

How do you see this decision?

– I have respect for the SL look at it. They must of course ensure passenger safety first and foremost. But it also gives the signal that crime pays. These people have wanted to silence a voice in the political debate, and they have to some extent succeeded.

– This way, those who wanted to destroy the campaign has been successful. But at the same time, it has received more attention than we ever dared hope for. So on the whole, we are very pleased with the campaign, says Henrik Vinge.
