Man seriously injured in knife Orebro – Aftonbladet

A 37-year-old man was stabbed repeatedly late Saturday night in central Örebro. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

– We have cordoned off around the Drottninggatan and initially launched a preliminary investigation of attempted murder, says Fredrik Backer, duty officer at Orebro police.

The police have at present no suspect.

at 23:07 on Saturday night alerted police to the Olof Palme Square on Drottninggatan in central Örebro after a man stabbed on the spot.

– There is a plaintiff which is carved several times in the upper body. He is in this now USÖ (Örebro University Hospital) for surgery, says Fredrik Backer, duty officer at Orebro police.



Life-threatening damaged

The victim is a 37 year old man. His condition was the first life threatening, according to a press release from the hospital, and he cared for in intensive care. The person has had surgery Sunday morning, is now sedated and the situation has stabilized. He is now assessed as severely damaged.

Police have no suspects at this time. What may have prompted the knife attack is still unclear, and police have launched a preliminary investigation into suspected assassination attempt.

– No suspect initially but we are working far and wide, with both internal and external reconnaissance. There are probably witnesses to the event, we hope. And we expect that they will be told by the police.

Part of Queen Street is blocked waiting for the technical examination.

– They have cordoned off a fairly large area on the street says a person living near to Aftonbladet.

Roped Off during the day

According to the duty officer Fredrik Bäcker should not pose any problems for traffic flow.

– Half the street is blocked. There is one lane open so you can get around.

The barriers are expected to be held sometime tomorrow, the day Sunday. The crime scene is just a hundred meters from where the Social Democrats have kommunkoferens. According to police, the events have no connection.
