The organizers of Stockholm Pride estimates that half a million people joined the pride parade that wound through the center of Stockholm on Saturday.
For the eighteenth time held pride parade in Stockholm and one of the year’s record was the number of carriages that participated in the parade, namely at least 193 pieces. Last year, 154 carriages in the parade.
– It grows every year and we notice that increasing interest both from businesses and governments to be with. But even individuals who want to participate with their own rigs is increasing, says Joanna Ljunggren, Press Manager at Stockholm Pride, the SVT .
The organizers says that the parade attracted 40,000 participants who walked in the parade.
– It is amazing, that there would be this kind of weather. The Swedes, Stockholmers and tourists, everyone gets up. It is an important signal that Sweden sends to the outside world, says Åsa Romson, spokesperson for the Green Party, the Aftonbladet .
Also Moderates’ leader Anna Kinberg Batra was included in throng.
– It is important to show that everyone can be who you are and the love you want.
LGBTQ festival Stockholm Pride has been running since Monday and has consisted of including lectures , workshops and parties. The theme for this year’s Pride in Stockholm has been to work towards standards that restrict everyday life. Pride Week culminates in today’s Pride Parade.
