Evacuation contemplated in Vänge – P4 Gotland broadcast directly – Sveriges Radio

The fire started in an area between Vänge and Buttle Gotland Friday. It started with a grass fire that quickly spread and became a so-called crown fires, where the tops of the trees caught fire.

Today, sending the Swedish Civil Contingencies advanced equipment to extinguish forest fires. The three helicopters called in to water bomb the fire will continue as long as necessary.

Even the Coast Guard flight has participated in the effort to get an overview of the fire spreading. Police have set up roadblocks on roads around the area. Owners of properties in the area have been informed about the fire, but there is still no decision on evacuation.
