The spruce bark beetle has already started – Västerbotten Courier

The dreaded pest bark beetle has already been brought to life and swarms unusually early this year, reports local media.

The pest is only four millimeters long but still manages to cause great damage when first attack felled trees but also presses inside the bark of living trees. This year, the insects cause much damage when the season is expected to be slow because of the heat wave earlier in May.

Swarm of insects have already been found in traps in southern Dalarna, reports the P4 Dalarna. And according TV4Nyheterna have measurements in Västerbotten proved to drill this year started swarming full six weeks earlier than last year.
