Caring Miss behind twice deaths – Västerbotten Courier

It was a mistake committed by staff who was behind the incident when a mother and her newborn baby died during childbirth at the Central Hospital in Växjö in March, according Smålandsposten.

According to the investigation region made the woman ought to have received emergency caesarean then the CTG equipment, which monitors fetal sounds, demonstrated abnormalities during labor. The staff believed, however, that it was wrong on the technology and chose to listen for fetal sound with a different method.

The child that was born was lifeless and postpartum mother became increasingly worse. In retrospect, it was found that she died of fostervattenemboli, a condition in which amniotic fluid enters the mother’s bloodstream, causing a severe and acute allergic reaction.

Region Kronoberg now report the incident to the Inspectorate for Health Care, IVO.
