The famous relapse criminal Lars-Inge Svartenbrandt, now Lars Carlandersplatsen, has been classified as one of Sweden’s worst criminals. A number of serious crimes, who pay attention to robberies and escapes, has made that he spent nearly 40 years of his life in prison.

On Friday night, he died in an apartment fire in Kopparberg.

– someone has laid out the fire, if the deceased or another we do not know really. Therefore, there is reason to believe that the crime has been committed. Then get the investigation will tell if we can come to who it is, says Jan Materne duty officer, police in Örebro.

On Saturday lasted police technical examination of the home.

– It has not been possible to avoid the Black Brandt over the years, so to speak, says criminology professor Jerzy Sarnecki to SvD.

Lars Carlandersplatsen, or Lars-Inge Svartenbrandt, made a name for himself after the robbery to the post office on Döbelnsgatan in Stockholm in autumn 1979. He conducted the coup with a companion. Both were armed with assault rifles and wearing rubber masks that represented Elvis Presley and John Travolta. On the road from the site Black Brandt fired 19 shots into a police van. Three police officers were injured, one seriously.

He was also involved in an escape where a group of inmates escaped by making a key copy in soap.

– Black Brandt is both common and rare in a research perspective, says Jerzy Sarnecki.

People who commit felonies during most of its life rarely live very long – where is Black Brandt unusual. That he also continued to commit crimes in old age is even rarer.

In November last year, was sentenced Lars-Inge Svartenbrandt to two months prison for the May of the same year was guilty of attempted murder and aggravated larceny after a brawl in Ljusnarsberg, according to Expressen.

Black Brandt followed however, the research pattern where the tangled relationships is part of life, and that they continue to commit crimes on the criminal activity started early. Even people trying to live normal lives, but time and again failed. Black Brandt, described as an intelligent person, had “more resources” to try to turn life in another direction, but still failed, according Sarnecki.

– The fact that Black Brandt received so much attention is also possible to connect to he was exceptionally talented and intelligent person with social skills. He undoubtedly had psychopathic traits, although it should be a little careful with those labels, says Jerzy Sarnecki.

His personality traits , combined with serious crimes and spectacular escapes were what made him media celebrity, think Sarnecki.

It is speculated about the fire in the apartment was a suicide. Black Brandt should have indicated to his wife that he wanted to “burn like a monk,” and that he could no longer keep the pains in the body when he was suffering from cancer.

– It is not uncommon for criminals taking his own life . People who have a long career of crimes and who are a bit older rarely die a violent death, says Jerzy Sarnecki.
