From the first of April are new rules for how to behave in the subway. People sitting or lying down on the floor, begging on a “disruptive” or to play music without permission may be de-iced. There is also a prohibition on selling newspapers inside the barriers.

Some rules and prohibitions already exist today, but clarified.

– that you can not sit or lie down on the subway is completely new from April 1, says Kristoffer Tamsons to SvD.

According to him, SL will be in the spring to take vigorous action against begging.

– the rules must be respected. SL has been commissioned to manage it, he says.

The rules should be posted clearly in the public transport to the summer and traffic Council says that the County Council will try to reach voluntary organizations that have contact with Roma so that they are informed of the rules.

Order and safety regulations drawn up by the SL and Jernhusen. They also apply to the Central Station. According to SL notifications to the security issue of begging has increased by 400 percent since 2011, writes DN.

– The Act does not ban begging. We can not in our rules of order to point out begging and say that it is not allowed. It is required that it is disruptive or create insecurity. Therefore, we use our toolbox to address the problem, says transport committee chairman Christopher Tamsons to the Daily News.

He believes that the presence of begging “exploding” in recent years. According to him, it creates insecurity and he is open to a begging ban. However, it is not appropriate at this time because it is on a higher political level.

– Public transport is for us to travel, not that we should stay or beg, says Kristoffer Tamsons.

How do you determine what is ‘disruptive’ begging?

– It’s a challenge. This may involve aggression, a begging in a way that creates obvious insecurity. It is important to make good assessments that are equal for all, he said.

Sarah Svanström, Vice President of Traffic Board (L), submit a written comment to the Svenska Dagbladet on Tuesday evening:

“Disturbances and molestation will never be accepted, whatever the causes and perform them. But it is something else to forbid people to ask other people for help. Begging is a result of poverty, not a solution to it. it requires other solutions for that. Prohibition however, is not a solution to poverty. “

SL’s new, tighter regulations

It should not be allowed to:

  1. lying down in a seat or to lie or sit on the floor.

  2. Selling or share the printed publications without the SL’s written permission aboard the vehicle or inside the SL latch line.

  3. Harassing another person or otherwise disruptive.

  4. perform music without the SL’s prior written permission.

  5. Include bulky luggage or luggage or other objects that could endanger safety or cause other discomfort.

  6. Leave the luggage and other belongings unattended. Abandoned belongings can be dealt with.
