Polygamy growing dilemma – Swedish Dagbladet

Goran Lind, professor of civil law at Örebro University, believes that polygamy is contrary to the Swedish view of the law and that the authorities should not recognize polygamous marriages.

– It is contrary to the legal requirements of gender equality. And how, for example, the right of inheritance to work for a man with several wives dies? says Göran Lind told the newspaper.

He believes that the issue can be more relevant in the future, with increased immigration in Sweden.

Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, UAE, Somalia and Sudan are examples of countries where it is legal for a man to take multiple wives.
