Council gives faint praise for Asylum Act – Västerbotten Courier

The Council on Legislation gives the government the green light to proceed with the proposal to temporarily, for three years, making it harder to get a residence permit in Sweden.

The Council on Legislation sets a range of issues and has several proposals for amendments, but concludes that there is no reason to “reject legislation essentially based on the proposals.” One reason that the Council gives the government the green light is that the law should be temporary and that it is urgent to implement it.

Immigration Minister Morgan Johansson (S) told TT that the objections council has most seem to be of a technical nature and they certainly going to follow up.

– We must consider the opinion there, said Johansson, adding that the government’s plan to submit a bill to parliament next week remains.

the bill must be submitted no later than one week to parliament to have time to deal with it before the summer recess. The government wants the law to take effect on 20 July.
