Green Party spokesperson has had to deal with a number of recent events, and the criticism has been hard on Gustav Fridolin and Åsa Romson. Some voices have even called for their resignation. This in turn has led to both Romson and Fridolin earlier this week öpnade for the Nomination Committee to take forward other mouthpieces candidates for the party’s congress in just over two weeks.
But while they made clear that they want to be on.
And their voters’ group does not yet seem to have had rejected them completely. A new Sifo Measurement as Sifo made on its own initiative and that SvD can publish today shows that language tubes have a relatively strong support to remain among their own voters.
74 percent of the electorate MP think that Gustav Fridolin will remain as spokesperson, while 47 percent of those responding to Åsa Romson must remain – even though 34 percent are uncertain regarding her. 20 percent of the electorate MP believes that Romson should resign.
– It is important is support among their own MP-voters, and support seems to be. It is what determines and may go a long way, says Toivo Sjörén, director of polling at Sifo.
Political scientist Peter Esaiasson , a professor at the University of Gothenburg, do not, however, support is particularly strong – at least not for Åsa Romson.
– however there seems to be a strong opportunity for her to get the support again and build confidence because many voters seem uncertain about her, he said.
the support for language tubes throughout the electorate, however, is low. 63 of Swedes believe that Romson should resign, while 44 think that Fridolin should resign. Among the red-green voters think 43 percent to Romson should resign, against 20 percent for Fridolin.
This in turn can make it hard for spokespersons to attract other voters – than they already loyal.
– the spotlight is just how easily persuaded MP the undecided voters, says Esaiasson.
But after MP’s Congress in mid-May believe Esaiasson to the uncertain group will be more confident on the issue.
– Her fate the MP decided by the party leadership. Their voice is important because there is a large group is uncertain. It does not mean that it’s over for Romson. These figures are rather good news for her, better than what you might have been feared, says the political scientist.
how was the survey
Sifo has on its own initiative examined how many who think that Asa Romson and Gustav Fridolin should remain as spokesperson for the Green Party. Question wording was: “How do you see the British ecologist språkrörerns future. Do you think Asa Romson / Gustav Fridolin should remain or resign?” The question was asked on 25-27 April. A total of 4283 randomly selected Swedish citizens aged 18 responded.
