The Housing Minister Mehmet Kaplan (Green Party) is forced to leave the government should not surprise anyone.
Unprecedented comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany and an exceptionally poor crisis management makes him unfit to sit in government.
Kaplan has a long career as a politician behind. Already ten years ago, he made debut in Parliament.
He has, probably because of its happy and easy way, been very popular in his party. Now he disappears from the political elite with his tail between his legs.
Probably had Mehmet Kaplan, who became Minister of 1,5 years, fared left it stopped at the unveiling of a dinner he attended last summer. One of the other guests was President of the Swedish branch of the Grey Wolves, a Turkish fascist and violent youth.
It was unprofessional of Kaplan and his staff not to keep an eye on the other guests. A minister legitimizes participants in an event by his mere presence and that was the housing minister did with the Grey Wolves who are behind hundreds of political killings over the decades.
Crisis management of dinner fadäsen was additionally beneath contempt. Can not it manages to not to attend to the country’s housing policy.
But when the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet on Sunday revealed that Mehmet Kaplan compared Israel’s treatment of Palestinians with Nazi Germany actions against the Jews was sealed his fate.
Israel behaves in no way exemplary against the Palestinians. The country is exposed correctly for strong criticism of settlements, construction of walls and general harassment.
But comparing it to Nazi large-scale extermination of Jews is not only grotesque. It also shows a boundless lack of history of Mehmet Kaplan and makes him totally unfit to be minister and impossible to use as the representative of Sweden.
Stefan Löfven would not be able to explain to one of his colleagues that he allows such a person to remain in the government. Especially as Kaplan revealed startling a lack of opinion on other occasions. So he must away.
The Green Party is Kaplan’s brusque dismissal from the government yet another stroke in the bill. Their time in power has not been paved with roses. The sakpolitiska successes are few and confidence in climate and environment minister Åsa Romson (MP) is in the ground.
Even confidence in the Education Minister Gustav Fridolin, the male spokesman for the Greens, has plummeted since he became minister. However, the drop height to Romson is still high.
Green Party wanted to stop the construction of the Stockholm Bypass. It is being built. The party wanted to close the Bromma Airport. It will remain until Svedavias current lease with the City of Stockholm will expire in 22 years.
They wanted to close down the remaining nuclear power plants. Four will apparently be turned off prematurely. But not because of political decisions. But because they are with today’s low electricity prices do not provide sufficient profits. READ ALSO This has happened: All tours around Kaplan scandals
