New labeling can give snuff deficiency – Västerbotten Courier

Domestic Now, the new Tobacco Act be put into use. One effect of this is that snuff boxes shall be provided with new information to be sold and it should be ready by May 20 Unreasonable, believes the industry.

Facts

the European Commission presented its proposal for a new tobacco directive in December 2012. Member states agreed their opinion in June 2013 and the European Parliament in October. The Directive will enter into force by 20 May, 2016.

It stipulates among other things that cigarette packages should have 65-percent warning texts and images that menthol cigarettes are prohibited from 2020 to export and marketing ban continues to prevail for snuff outside of Sweden. Taste and content of snuff Sweden may continue to decide on.

In early April, clubbed the law in parliament. The Public Health Agency, which has oversight responsibilities, outlined on Tuesday how the law should be applied.

The directives from the Public Health Agency has just arrived, which means that snus manufacturers have about three weeks to change the packaging.

– It is very saktfärdigt and vastly inadequate information from both the Government and the Public Health Agency. They had known that there would be some type of change, but not how it would look and therefore we have not been able to adapt, says Patrik Strömer, secretary general of the Swedish snus manufacturing association, said.

– it’s impossible for a small manufacturer to keep up with this, says Strömer and predicts that some brands might be taken in the stores.

– it sold about five million cans a week, so this may come to an end pretty soon.

According to the Public Health Agency is the short transition phase in the legislative process.

– Yes, it’s very short. But we have not had a tobacco law in place until the middle of April and before the agency has not authority to influence the process. We have been working in a very hectic pace to get clear, says Josefin Jonsson at the Public Health Agency of aftonbladet.se.
