Svea Court reduces sentence for bunker doctor – Sveriges Radio

The Court of Appeal considers that there are mitigating circumstances including the man’s mental condition and lowers the penalty for kidnapping. The man acquitted of rape charges even in the court of appeal.

The man must also pay 180,000 kronor in damages to the woman, it is the same amount that the district court decided in its judgment.

The prosecutor had demanded 15 years in prison for kidnapping and rape. His motion to confiscate the building, a machine shop, where the woman was kept locked in a bunker-like space, was rejected by the Court of Appeal.

It was in September last year as the man drugged and brought a woman from Stockholm to a property in northeastern Skåne, where he kept her locked in a sound and light isolated bunker in a week’s time.
