The 26-year-old man July 13 escaped from the forensic psychiatric clinic in Sundsvall has surrendered to police.

Police in Gavleborg called me at 18:15 and told the man himself had contacted the police and wanted to be picked up. Police in Gavleborg picked him in Hofors, says Marcus Grahn, duty officer at the police in Västernorrland.

According to the police 26-year-old have been calm and during Sunday evening transported him back to the clinic in Sundsvall.

It is not criminal to escape, and he is not suspected of any crime, says Marcus Grahn.

The 26-year-old, who has been convicted of attempted murder and serious assault cases, escaped when he was on clearance without staff. It is still unclear why the man was in Hofors and what he has done during the week on the run.
