Snowstorms interfered with the police system – Västerbottens-kuriren (the Courier)

Last week’s snowstorm caused disruption in the communication system Rakel, used by the police, in the county of Blekinge, Kalmar, Skåne and Kronoberg counties.

” We are looking seriously at this. It should not happen. Rachel has a reliability of 99.97%, but it is clear that no technical system can be absolutely perfect, ” says Mats Hammarstam, head of unit at the Swedish civil contingencies Agency (MSB), to Sydostran.

the Disruption lasted from to in less than an hour, according to the newspaper. A troubleshooting showed that the problem was due to väderkänslig hardware. New hardware has been ordered by the Swedish contingencies agency, which is responsible for the operation of the Squeegee, in order to avoid that the same problem occurs again.
